On a Historic East Hampton Farm, Ralph Lauren Hosted a Summer Dinner with Net-A-Porter and Mr Porter

No one can transform a historic barn into an elegant dinner affair quite like Ralph Lauren. After all, the New York native is known for his Western cowboy touches and Americana flare, an exquisite taste that is trademarked with his iconic polo-player logo. While there were no ponies to be found at this farm, the property was a stomping ground for starry guests like Emma Roberts, Tamran Hall, Christopher Briney, Eve Jobs, Barbara Sturm, Lauren Bush Lauren, Dianna Agron, Derek Blasberg, Rupert Friend, Aimee Mullins, Christina Najjar, Kate Love, and Kevin Love.

Hosted by YOOX Net-a-Porter’s Alison Loehnis and Ralph Lauren’s David Lauren, the summer soirée paid tribute to the brand’s longstanding support of the Historical Society, which preserves and maintains the setting for the evening, Mulford Farm. For one night only, the farm was miraculously reimagined as a Ralph Lauren Home set complete with striped blue-and-white linens, floral plates paired with rattan chargers, bouquets of hydrangeas arranged in wicker basket vases, and chairs decorated in playful summer patterns. Of course, gorgeous chandeliers hung from the barn beams offered a soft glow throughout the rustic space.

“Tonight is an opportunity to bring you into our world,” Lauren explained. “We love the feel and the spirit of these great old barns. Our company, employees, and customers helped to fund the restoration of some of the buildings, and we feel strongly about preserving the culture and community out here in the Hamptons.”

On the lawn, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour with a side of history overlooking the Pantigo windmill. As the sun started to fade, attendees dressed in a sea of Ralph Lauren classics, from denim to gorgeous suits and striped sweaters, headed into the barn for the main event. Before guests nestled into their seats, Loehnis rose to share a few sentimental words. “We are so grateful for Ralph Lauren’s incredible partnership, and tonight is a full circle moment for me,” she began. “Because my entire career in fashion and retail started here in East Hampton, working just across the street at Ralph Lauren.” A story that salutes not only the timelessness of the brand but one that celebrates the American Dream built by the Ralph Lauren family and team.

And, it wouldn’t be a Ralph Lauren dinner party without a few favorites from The Polo Bar menu. Yes, the fried olives traveled out east, as did the jumbo shrimp cocktail, grilled branzino, and the famous cheeseburger with a side of fries. Sitting in the cozy barn, the evening felt like a trip back in time to the English colonial area with contemporary touches, a balance Lauren effortlessly executes throughout his work. And since warm summer nights should always end with ice cream, servers carefully placed Ralph’s ice cream sundaes in front of every guest. The perfect treat to end the dreamy evening on a sweet note.
