With Rihanna serving as creative director ahead of a new multi-year partnership with many product launches to come, Fenty x Puma is back, starting with with the release of the Avanti. The Fenty x Puma Avanti reimagines the football-inspired fashion footwear with vintage leather, gum outsole and a gold foil Fenty and Puma cat logo. Why is fashion absent from global action on plastic pollution?
The rough draft of the Global Plastics Treaty by the United Nations Environmental Assembly and the Chair of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee was released on Monday and it marks a step towards reducing global plastic pollution, yet the fashion industry is absent from its pages. “The fact that the draft does not mention fibres at all, arguably fashion’s primary use of plastic, is the latest reminder of the disconnect between policymakers eyeing environmental initiatives and the realities of the fashion industry’s impacts,” Rachel Cernansky writes for Vogue Business. Fashion needs to be an active player in the plastic pollution conversation, not only to address the industry’s specific concerns, but also to reduce its plastic consumption. {Vogue Business/paywalled}

Bottega Veneta launches Winter 23 Fanzine
Bottega Veneta launched its Winter 23 Fanzine, a limited-edition four-volume set available globally in the brand’s stores. The books explore the season’s creative references and include sketches, outtakes and behind-the-scenes images. The fanzine volumes are encased in a Stracciatella-inspired slipcase mirroring the Winter 23 show floor. {Fashionista inbox}

Staud and Wrangler unveil denim collaboration
Staud and Wrangler are teaming up for a new premium denim collaboration that combines Staud’s contemporary feminine designs with Wrangler’s classic denim construction and Western aesthetic. The collaboration includes denim pieces such as a pencil skirt, jumpsuit, bikini top and an oversized Western shirt. “Wrangler’s heritage in denim aligns with our brand ethos of creating pieces that are timeless while feeling fresh. Richemont launches beauty division and appoints new CEO
Richemont, owner of Yoox Net-a-Porter and luxury brands like Chloé and Cartier, launched a new beauty division called Laboratoire de Haute Parfumerie et Beauté on Wednesday and appointed Boet Brinkgreve as the division’s new CEO. With a career spanning 30 years, Brinkgreve has experience in the chemicals, fragrance and flavor industries in the U.S., China and Europe. In a statement, Richemont’s Chairman Johann Rupert said, “Boet will establish and lead our new Laboratoire de Haute Parfumerie et Beauté to enable our six Maisons already involved in fragrance to reach critical mass in this highly competitive field, where scale is crucial.” {Fashion United}

Good American and Gabriella Karefa-Johnson release capsule collection
Good American tapped Vogue‘s Global Fashion Editor and stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson to curate a capsule collection for the brand’s new Good Uniform line. Available now, the collection includes outerwear, bottoms, layering pieces, elevated sweats and more. “Good American has always been a brand that has served me in ways that other brands haven’t,” Karefa-Johnson said in a statement. “I love being able to access different varieties of shapes, silhouettes, washes, and fabrications to build out my wardrobe with things that make me feel good and look amazing. Spotify launches New York Fashion Week Official Playlist
Spotify partnered with the CFDA to debut its first-ever New York Fashion Week Official Playlist, featuring music from Taylor Swift, SZA, Kendrick Lamar and, of course, Beyoncé. Spotify also launched an in-app destination featuring playlist takeovers from designers and creative directors set to soundtrack the fall fashion weeks.
