It takes a lot for a moisturizer to impress me, so if I’m bothering to name one an “Editors’ Pick,” you have to know it’s a damn good formula.

Futurewise is a brand entirely devoted to the glow-ifying, moisture-sealing practice of slugging, and its products works in tandem to create plump, dewy, optimally-hydrated skin. While I’m a fan of the entire range in general, I’ve been reaching for its Slug Cream on repeat over the last few weeks, and the results have me wanting to spread its gospel far and wide.

The medium-weight lotion comes housed in a pump-top bottle that perfectly dispenses the proper dose to coat your entire face and neck. It’s fragrance-free and has a nice slip to it, so it spreads on easily, but it’s not runny or thin. With a dual aim of immediately flooding skin with moisture and improving its ability to maintain hydration long-term, the lipid- and peptide-laced formula creates a smooth, even finish with an immediate glow. (For some, it might read as “oily,” but I’d always rather my complexion be dewy than flat or dull-looking.)

I’ve been using it with my retinol at night to help counter any of the anti-ager’s drying, irritating effects, but I’ve also found that it makes for an excellent primer beneath makeup, enabling it to go on extra seamlessly and really melt into skin. Add to all that the fact that it’s under $25 and available at Target? It’s a product I simply can’t stop using myself — and recommending to others.
