Matthieu Blazy, get Fenty Corp on the phone: These paparazzi shots of Rihanna wearing a fresh-off-the-Spring-2024-runway Bottega Veneta bag in New York City could be your next campaign.
Of course, if this were a Bottega Veneta campaign, Ms. Fenty would be wearing the brand head to toe. However, her look for a Monday night dinner in New York City expertly mixes labels: a grey belted Dries Van Noten wool coat, black Balenciaga Pantaleggings, red Bottega Veneta Lauren clutch (presumably shipped straight from Milan), black Gucci sunglasses.
Jenna Lyons now-famously said of wearing multiple designer pieces with visible logos at once, “You can’t wear Alexander Wang on your back and Balenciaga on your bag.” But Rihanna and stylist Jahleel Weaver demonstrated how it can work, opting for items whose signifiers are more if-you-know-you-know: Anyone familiar with Bottega Veneta would instantly recognize the intrecciato leather weave, and anyone who follows Balenciaga in the Demna era will clock the Knife toe and distinct silhouette. Altogether, they make for an outfit fit for a star. Just add your Fenty Beauty gloss of choice.
