The U.S. Open has a well-deserved reputation for being the funnest major tournament in tennis. And why wouldn’t it? Matches routinely run well into the wee hours of the night. The crowd is electric. And the players routinely break out the wildest—or at least most neon-heavy—fits. (Fewer sleeves on-court, too, than at most other majors.)
Perhaps unsurprisingly, that energy extends to the fans—who, relieved of the suit-and-tie strictures of Wimbledon, choose to express themselves in deeply American fashion. We braved the crowds on the first big weekend of the tournament to snap the best street style at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center—and we were not disappointed at what we found.
