An NBA season is long and arduous, taking a sizable toll on the mind, body, and spirit. For that reason, the summer is a time for basketball players to do anything but basketball. Whether they just want to relax by a pool somewhere, get really good at podcasting (we see you, Paul George), or stay busy with a hefty to-do list that’s impossible to get to during the season, hoopers cherish their summers.
There are, of course, a few tried-and-true offseason adventures: Paris Fashion Week, say, or a Caribbean vacation. But we’re most interested in the players who went a different direction this offseason—the guys who went on something like a video game side quest, a fun little jaunt that isn’t part of the main story or objective, which in this case is playing in the NBA.
Several players have spent the summer months embarking on their various side quests, but these are the ones that really caught our eye.
Steph Curry diving into his hobbies
Curry is an elder millennial, which means that it’s a safe bet that he loves Paramore. We didn’t know this for a fact, however, until this summer. In early August, with Paramore taking over the Warriors’ arena in San Francisco, the team’s most iconic player blessed the stage to help perform “Misery Business,” the band’s most iconic song.
