The Hulu Black Friday Deal Makes Streaming Basically Free

That Hulu Black Friday deal is very real, folks. The streaming wars may have wreaked havoc on the entire Hollywood business model, but you’re not going to let that stop you from watching Netflix or Apple TV, are you? For its latest volley against newcomers like Paramount+ and whatever we’re calling HBO Max now, Hulu is offering a limited-time promotion that’s so good it sounds like a typo. (It’s not—we checked the fine print for you.) Now through November 28th, the deal lets you take 87% off the usual monthly price of Hulu With Ads plans. Which means new and former subscribers who sign up today can get a year of service for just $0.99 a month.

The pre-Thanksgiving deals keep coming (Black Friday is relentless like that), but even in a landscape littered with bargains, rollbacks, and mark-downs, the new Hulu Black Friday deal stands out. Partly, that’s because Black Friday simply isn’t as good as it used to be; it’s rare to find big 40% or 50% discounts anymore.

So let’s break this down as simply as possible: Until November 28th, new and former subscribers can sign up for Hulu With Ads for just 99 cents per month (or $11.88 a year). After 12 months, the regular $7.99 price will kick in. And if you decide to slim down your monthly subscriptions as a New Year’s resolution, you can cancel at any time. Of course, if you cancel, you’ll miss out on the new season of The Bear, coming in 2024.

Okay, so what about the aforementioned fine print? While this deal is available for new and former subscribers, it’s not available for active subscribers. If you’ve had an active Hulu subscription within the past 30 days, you’re out of luck. So, no, you can’t just cancel your subscription and re-sign up; Hulu thought of that. Unfortunately, this deal doesn’t apply to Hulu’s ad-free version or Hulu + Live TV, either. However, you can bundle in Disney+ with the new promotion for an extra $2 per month, much less than you’d pay by going to Disney directly.

It’s hard to argue with a streaming app that costs just 99 cents, so head to Hulu to sign up now.
