Even without the Scrooge McDuck graphic, this watch is a jawdropper. Designed by Gérald Genta—who famously devised both the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak—it features his signature sharp angles and vaguely nautical inspiration. In this case, it seems like Genta took cues from one of those big ship wheels. The real icing on the cake, though? This watch is called the Gérald Genta “Paperon dei Paperoni,” which is Scrooge McDuck’s name in Italian.
(Pounding the table) Genta! Genta! Genta! This watch is pure cocaine-snorting, Vegas-penthouse luxury. The dial is made out of copper and hammered to create that pretty pebbled texture. The subdials are Mother of Pearl. The bracelet, bezel, and even the crowns are as ornately designed as the exterior of a Gothic cathedral.
