Between the more dressed up performance looks and gala dresses, and the casual museum ’fits and mirror selfies, everyone this week was bound together by a shared confidence. Maybe they’re born with it, maybe it’s Scorpio season.
Reneé Rapp and Chappell Roan bared their souls onstage in two very different outfits. Rapp opted for a sporty look, wearing an oversized #42 jersey tee with black denim cutoffs and a black studded leather belt, which she paired with black leather boots. Roan, on the other hand, leaned into the camp of it all, wearing a purple corset (and matching arm warmers!) embellished with tassels, pearls, and swirling gold embroidery.
Icelandic jazz singer Laufey stayed true to her very chic personal style, wearing a billowy white blouse and black miniskirt with tights and loafers to the Art Institute of Chicago. She added a pop of red with a woven shoulder bag, though she wasn’t the only one trying out the fall-favorite accent color. Kylie Jenner debuted the first piece from her forthcoming collection, Khy, wearing her own leather trench coat with a pair of cherry-hued heels. Alexa Chung updated the groutfit with a pair of tomato stripes on her gray sweater. Meanwhile, Olivia Rodrigo went all in on the hot color, sharing a BTS mirror selfie from her VMAs performance in a red bra and pleated miniskirt set from Sandy Liang.
Timothée Chalamet and Chloë Sevigny both displayed excellent button-up styling this week. Chalamet wore a white silk shirt with a few buttons left undone at the top, a pair of cuffed trousers, and black leather boots. Sevigny opted for a little more color in a blue button-up rolled up above the elbow, which she paired with black shorts and a silver watch.
Lastly, we saw some lovely, feminine whites from American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Cassandra Trenary and writer Rayne Fisher-Quann. Trenary attended the company’s fall gala in a resplendent Christopher John Rogers dress, which was complete with a sharp, strapless neckline and a dramatic overskirt that jutted out from the dropped waistline. Fisher-Quann showed a more casual approach, wearing a white cutout Lirika Matoshi blouse, which she juxtaposed with ripped carpenter jeans, and a pair of white Margiela Tabi flats.
