Hallelujah, the SAG-AFTRA strike is over at long last! While the actors fought for fair labor practices, red carpets have been few and far between due to the union’s guidelines. Some films, however, received waivers that allowed actors to promote their films. One such project was the Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which stars Rachel Zegler, Tom Blythe, and Hunter Schafer.
Thankfully, we have been blessed with a Hunter Schafer press tour, as the actor is known to devour looks from left to right. And, just as we suspected, she’s doing just that, with the help of stylist Dara Allen.
Schafer, who plays designer Tigris Snow in the film, kicked off the press tour on a sartorial high note at the film’s Berlin premiere in a museum-worthy Schiaparelli couture dress. The long-sleeved mock neck midi dress featured a trompe l’oeil body, a Daniel Roseberry signature. The crocheted piece was covered in hand-painted fragments that made up the mosaic-esque pieces and embellished with rhinestones. Letting the dress shine, Schafer kept the styling minimal, only wearing a pair of white pointy-toed pumps.
But not every look has to be couture to be a hit. For a radio appearance, the actor wore a set from Conner Ives’s fall 2023 collection, a white skirt set with a 3-D cherry blossom pattern, over which she wore a sharp gray coat. She matched her shoes to the flowers on her outfit, wearing a pair of light pink pointy-toed pumps with an ankle strap.
For The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’s London premiere, Schafer wore another skirt set, an interpretation of Prada’s spring 2009 collection. The halter bra with a matching bolero and floor-length skirt embellished with black bows combines traits of several looks from the show: the marigold color of the closing looks, and the balconette bra and shrug of one of the opening looks. Schafer isn’t the only one to wear this collection lately; Miley Cyrus wore a green iteration on the June 2023 cover of British Vogue, and Bella Hadid owns a brown set from the original collection, whose bra and bolero combo is similar to Schafer’s.
