Saks and Johanna Ortiz Hosted an Idyllic Southampton Summer Lunch For New York-Presbyterian Komansky Children’s Hospital

The cloudy morning skies parted just in time for Saks and Johanna Ortiz’s Southampton lunch for New York-Presbyterian Komansky Children’s Hospital—but not that they necessarily needed to: a long, sprawling table adorned in Ortiz’s tropical, Cartegena-inspired “Entre Rios” home collection brought all the brightness the afternoon needed. Sapphire blue and white plates with hand-painted motifs of palms as well as parrots stretched as far as the eye could see, tucked away amid monstera leaves and woven baskets. Silver bowls held fresh blueberries and blackberries from a nearby farmstand, and embroidered napkins sat tucked underneath every setting.

When Saks—a notable supporter of New York City area hospitals as well as mental health organizations—approached Ortiz about co-hosting the lunch, her answer was a quick one. “I just said—I’ll be there,” the designer and mother-of-three admitted, even though she had to fly from Colombia to attend and could only stay in the States for 48 hours.

Guests, including Brenna Khoury, Roopa Patel, and Marcie Pantzer, browsed looks from Ortiz’s Pre-Fall ‘24 and Fall-Winter ‘24 collections. A percent of proceeds from the purchased merchandise went back to New York Presbyterian.

The seated lunch included fresh summer dishes like zucchini fritters with local peach salad and slowly cooked salmon with dill. Although even after the final course was served, attendees couldn’t help but shop a little more.
