Outdoor retailer REI Co-op is set to expand its presence in Ohio with the opening of a new store in Beavercreek in spring 2024. Located at the Beavercreek Shopping Center, the new 23,000-square-foot store is set to cater to the diverse needs of REI members in the region.
The fifth REI store to open in the state, the upcoming Beavercreek store, will offer an extensive range of apparel and gear suitable for a variety of outdoor activities, including camping, cycling, running, fitness, hiking, paddling, climbing, and snow sports. To further strengthen the shopping experience, the store will also feature a full-service bike, ski, and snowboard shop staffed by certified mechanics offering tuning and repair services.
“We look forward to joining the outdoor community in the outdoor capital of the Midwest,” said Sean Sampson, REI’s regional director, in a statement. “Even before we open our doors in Beavercreek, we have served 28,000 REI members who have traveled up to an hour to visit our stores in Cincinnati and Columbus.”
“As we do in every community where we have a presence, REI will also establish partnerships with nonprofits doing incredible work to protect natural places and create belonging in the outdoors,” added Sampson. In the previous year, the collective endeavors resulted in an investment of 6.9 million US dollars across 503 nonprofit organizations to protect the outdoors. Within Ohio alone, the co-op granted 601,000 US dollars to 29 different nonprofit entities.
The new Beavercreek store will provide additional services such as buy online, pick up in-store, and curbside pickup for extra convenience. The largest consumer co-op in the US, REI provides universal access to expert staff and an array of online resources for skill development and adventure planning. Members benefit from the Re/Supply program for great deals on used gear, service discounts, and an annual Co-op Member Reward of 10 percent back on eligible purchases.
