Pasta and Prada with Hunter Schafer

“I’ve never done a mukbang,” Hunter Schafer says, her mouth full of pasta. “This is wild.” The actor went straight from the Prada spring 2024 show in Milan to an Italian restaurant, where five heaping plates of fresh pasta awaited her.

Vogue met Schafer early on the morning of the show, where she sleepily answered the door of her suite at the Bulgari Hotel. “Can I have, like, five more minutes?” she asked. “I am not a morning person.” Thus, a caffeine run is in order. Schafer—dressed in a blue short-sleeved button-up, khaki jacket, and plaid shorts—leads the way to Marchesi 1824, where she forgoes an espresso shot in favor of a cappuccino. “I need to take it a little slower. I’m still waking up,” she says.

Schafer and her team decide to keep it lowkey for glam, opting for a “slept-in blowout,” and a light makeup look with a hint of color on the eyelid. She forgoes womenswear for a look from the most recent men’s collection: a camel-colored button-up with origami crane and flower appliqués. Before she knows it, she’s running late to the Prada show. As a model, though, she knows that these things never start on time. “We’re going to be a little fashionably late to a fashionably late fashion show,” she jokes.

Even though she’s attending, rather than walking, the actor is still nervous. “I still get butterflies, my hands still start sweating.” But soon, she’s embraced by friends like Ayo Edebiri and all is well. After Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons take their bows, Schafer heads to Trattoria Madonnina for a celebratory meal. “Pasta is the best, so cheers to that,” she says before bidding farewell.
