Melitta Baumeister wins the 2023 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue announced Thursday night that Melitta Baumeister won the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and its $300,000 award. The two runners-up, Rachel Scott of Diotima and Henry Zankov of Zankov, each receive $100,000. Linda Evangelista announced Baumeister as the winner at Vogue‘s Forces of Fashion event at Condé Nast’s One World Trade Center headquarters. “As we prepare to celebrate the fund’s 20th anniversary in 2024, this year’s finalists have been a wonderful reminder of why we set up the fund in the first place: To enable a new generation of designers to be seen and heard,” Anna Wintour, chief content officer of Condé Nast and global editorial director of Vogue, said in a statement. {Fashionista inbox}
Pat McGrath Labs and Google launch AR pop-up in NYC
Pat McGrath Labs and Google are joining forces to create an augmented reality pop-up experience in New York City called “The Art of Beauty” where guests can virtually try on Pat McGrath’s lip products and eyeshadows in addition to shopping the collection. This pop-up will be available to the public from Oct. 20 to Oct. 22 at 101 7th Avenue from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day. “When it comes to makeup, I always say, ‘use without caution,’ and now you can shop without caution, too. This pop-up will give people unprecedented access behind the scenes of Pat McGrath Labs — I can’t wait for everyone to experience it!” McGrath said in a statement. Louis Vuitton unveils 2023 Artycapucines collection
The fifth installment of Louis Vuitton’s Artycapucines collection, an ongoing creative collaboration with contemporary artists to transform the fashion house’s Capucines bag in their own style, is now available in limited quantities. Artists Billie Zangewa, Ewa Juszkiewicz, Tursic & Mille, Liza Lou and Ziping Wang reimagined the brand’s bag according to their own artistic visions, which include candy-like embellishments, textural patterns, portraiture and more. {Fashionista inbox}
Francisco Costa reportedly plans to buy back Costa Brazil
Francisco Costa has made a bid through his company FCIP Holdco, LLC to buy back Costa Brazil, the skin-care, hair-care and fragrance line he founded in 2018; the brand’s parent company Amyris closed it in August. Costa has offered Amyris $350,000 for Costa Brazil’s intellectual property rights, trademarks, website domains and social media handles, according to court documents filed on Wednesday.
