Lauren McCarthy named editor in chief of Nylon
Nylon has a new editor in chief. Lauren McCarthy, who joined the magazine in 2019 as executive editor, has been tapped to lead the style and culture publication, effective immediately. “Lauren has long been an authoritative voice amongst the fashion, entertainment, and media spaces,” Emma Rosenblum, BDG’s chief content officer shared in a statement. “I look forward to seeing more of her achievements in this new role.” McCarthy replaces former Editor in Chief Alyssa Vingan. {Fashionista inbox}
Glossier is going on a college tour
Glossier is the latest brand to hit the road on a college campus tour, reports Glossy writer Sara Spruch-Feiner. The You Look Good tour, which will make stops at universities in Columbus, Nashville and Austin, is an attempt to connect with the brand’s target audience — college-aged students. The tour also fits in with Glossier’s newfound mission to reach customers beyond the coasts, where most of its 11 retailers are currently located. {Glossy}
Marc Jacobs’ plans for expansion
Marc Jacobs, and CEO Eric Marechalle, reveal big plans for the future of the brand. From a store-opening spree in downtown Manhattan — including a sprawling new SoHo location and a Fifth Avenue flagship — to dozens of other openings around the U.S. in the next year, the brand has its sights set on expansion and a new approach to ready-to-wear collections. “For somebody who loves to go shopping, anything that takes us back into brick-and-mortar, where you can talk to the salespeople and socialize, I find a relief.” {WWD/paywalled}
