“I wanted everything to be based on the square.” Spanish designer Moisés Nieto’s geometric starting point yielded a spring collection filled with patterns that wrapped around the body. The clean and wearable designs were more streamlined than previous seasons, with black as the leading hue. “It is a much darker proposal than usual, but it is a direct response to my customers’ demands,” explained Nieto.
The designer has recently opened a new retail space in Madrid, which has allowed him to build a deeper relationship with his customers. “(This) is our most inclusive collection to date,” Nieto said. “We have diversified our sizes and we will (continue) to do so in the future.” The collection also featured some signature classics like trench coats, this time with detachable collars, and mid-calf dresses defined by strategic drapes.
Fantasy came courtesy of raffia tops—the star of the season—as well as floral 3D pieces and bold prints courtesy of his collaboration with the photographer Inma Marisca, who took the vividly-colored photographs with her smartphone. They added an element of elegance to the offering.
