Like it or not, the 2010s are coming back. First there was Kylie Jenner announcing that she was reviving parts of her “King Kylie” era with her new line Khy; and now there’s Sally LaPointe. Her pre-fall mood board, curated from her personal Instagram, featured snapshots of her everpresent long stiletto nails, a Cartier jewelry box, and “Sierra”-filtered images showing off her affinity for black-colored clothing.
“These pictures are literally from my own home: my favorite jewelry pieces, my favorite things in my closet,” explained LaPointe. “It feels like a direct reflection of my closet and personal style, which is also something that a lot of people are coming to the brand for; they’re noticing the way I wear the pieces.” Devoted followers of LaPointe will recognize her signature ensemble: a form-fitting top (often a turtleneck), paired with baggy pants, which are the building blocks of the collection. Flowy pajama-like pants came in sequined and snakeskin renditions to add some pizazz, while bodysuits with revealing cutouts here and there are made for nights out.
This summer, Beyoncé wore a custom LaPointe metallic pink jersey one-shoulder mini dress on her Renaissance tour. For pre-fall the designer reinterpreted it as a two-piece set with a cozy knitted top and a sarong-style mini skirt. LaPointe recalled a funny tagline she had shared with her team. “If Beyoncé can wear it, so can you.”
