If you’re not already aware of the mixie, it’s a cross between a pixie cut and a mullet–think shorter, pixie-esque framing around the front of the head, and slightly more length and layers at the back, like the mullet. The style is best worn with a mussed-up finish, and delivers instant edge. On the right person, it looks ridiculously cool.
Working as well with curls as it does for straighter hair, the mixie sits on the right side of grunge. It’s prettier than the mullet, but edgier than the pixie, making it a perfect style for those who want to make a statement, but keep it chic. If you do get one cut in, make use of texturizing creams, like Ouai’s Texturising Matte Pomade, to add grit and movement into the cut.
