I'm a Fashion Expert, But Even I Mistook These New-In H&M Pieces for Designer

There are some real gems to be found on the high street at the moment (despite the madness of sales), and who doesn’t love finding elevated pieces that look way beyond their price tags? But finding time to trawl through rails in-store or thousands of items online can be tricky, especially if you have a busy schedule, and even then, why waste all that time when I can do it for you?

This week, I popped into H&M to see what was new. I tried several pieces from its latest collection which I’ve rounded up here, along with some more items I found online that caught my eye.

Chiara Perea wearing a H&M maxi skirt.

H&M knows how to design a great statement dress, often in designer shapes but just without the expensive fabrics. Its Conscious range, which focuses on making environmentally friendlier pieces from recyclable or sustainably sourced materials, features great wardrobe classics such as tailoring and modern staples from boxy tees to menswear-style shirting. But there’s one downside. They sell out pretty quickly, so if you do see something you love, don’t delay.

H&M is the master of expensive-looking knit dresses.

Size up for that oversized fit.

Go matchy-matchy with these striped boxer shorts.

The summer version of last season’s cult knit.

Summer isn’t complete without a bandeau top.

I would just let the dress do all the talking by adding fuss-free lace-up sandals.

Take this skirt on holiday to wear for sunset cocktails.

H&M’s sweetheart neckline tops always sell out fast.

No one will believe this beauty is from the high street.

Ribbed knits are going to be everywhere for autumn.

This is so similar to a certain designer style.

I would wear this nightdress with heels and a blazer.

A pair of tailored trousers so good, they come in four colours.

This cut-out cardigan will look effortless with denim Bermuda shorts.

These slouch-fit trousers have a designer feel.

Dressed up or down, the mesh bandeau is a winner.

You can’t beat a classic.

Go pretty with a mini skirt and fine-knit jumper.

Just add a white shirt and loafers.

Lace details are a mini trend this season.

This looks so premium.

Another skirt to add to my wish list.

The perfect T-shirt.

I love the subtle detailing on this shirt.

So very chic.

Shop the matching Bouclé Jacket (£38).

A “nice” top to wear with baggy jeans.
