Ever since Jennifer Lawrence appeared on “Hot Ones” a month ago, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about her hairstyle — and more specifically, the simple black headband she used to hold her hair elegantly back whilst consuming tear-inducing hot sauce. (I blame it on the fact that the internet has turned her horrified, crying “What do you mean?” clip into one of the most applicable memes ever. I can’t scroll three minutes on TikTok without seeing it referenced.)
The headband in question is beloved hair-accessory brand Jennifer Behr’s Tori Headband in Black Satin. It’s an inch wide, padded for subtle volume and covered in silk-satin grosgrain for a luxurious effect that fits in perfectly with Lawrence’s current, high-fashion era, styled by Jamie Mizrahi
The actor also wore a similar headband to a New York City film screening (shown at the top of this post) — though, according to hairstylist Gregory Russell, who was behind both looks, that accessory was by Dior. In both instances, though, Russell’s handiwork is the real star of the show: Lawrence’s voluminous, healthy-looking, cascading-down-her-back hair (which, I’m reminding myself, is most likely the result of high-quality, expertly-executed hair extensions) and lived-in, buttery blonde highlights are the perfect contrast to the minimalist black accessory. Even if I’ll likely never be able to mimic all of that for myself, I can still slap on a headband and pretend I’m settling in to set my mouth on fire next to Sean Evans.
The hair-accessory boom has been going strong for years now, but as far as I’m concerned, J.Law has single handedly prevented it from fizzling out.
