In celebration of the 20th anniversary of what I firmly believe is the greatest musical of all time, Hill House has collaborated with “Wicked” on two limited-edition dresses — one for Glinda, one for Elphaba.
“Wicked” was undoubtedly the show that made me realize the power and magic of the performing arts, making me the theater kid I am… “For Good.” The unlikely friendship that blossoms between the two main characters is perhaps the most charming aspect of the story, but the musical also offers a unique perspective on style: Though they seem like polar opposites at first, Glinda and Elphaba ultimately share a similar heart; they simply prefer different aesthetics.
With this two-piece Hill House capsule, I can now embrace both my Good and Wicked Witch sides. Who says I have to stick with just one mood?
There are two new versions of Hill House’s famed Ellie Nap Dress that are a bit more “swankified” than the original. Inspired by her on-stage “Popular” costume, the Glinda is made from a pink stripe organza, while the Elphaba is made from black tulle flecked with Oz-green glitter. Both are perfect for a night of dancing at the Ozdust Ballroom, naturally.
For the campaign, Broadway’s current Elphaba and Glinda, Alyssa Fox and McKenzie Kurtz, wear their character-specific outfits, strutting throughout the city. Not that I needed much convincing, but it definitely sold me even more seeing the looks on the leading ladies themselves.
The Elphaba Nap Dress in Black & Green Glitter Tulle, $378, available here (sizes 3XS-4XL) and The Glinda Ellie Nap Dress in Pink Stripe Organza, $378, available here (sizes 3XS-4XL).
