Hi Fashionista! I'm Brooke

Hi, Fashionista readers! I’m so excited to formally introduce myself. Though I’ve been at the site for over a year now, as both an intern and contributing writer, I officially started full-time as a staff writer in May.

My introduction to fashion came through the world of celebrity. Growing up, I loved reading magazines that told me what stars like Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift were wearing on their nights out, and was always intrigued by the “why” behind each piece. Though I have always loved learning about the industry, it wasn’t until my first year of college that I realized a career in fashion could be realistic. I’d studied music and theater my entire life, and always thought that was where the universe would lead me — once I connected the dots and saw that the reason I loved fashion was because of its storytelling and dramatics, it clicked: Fashion was just another form of theater that I could pursue.

From the moment I decided I wanted to work in the fashion industry, Fashionista became my go-to resource for how to bring that goal to fruition. Now, I get to write stories like the ones that inspired me, on the very site I read them from.

A bit about me: I’m from New York City, and can’t imagine living anywhere else. Some of my favorite brands are Simone Rocha, Chopova Lowena, Shushu Tong and Molly Goddard. My dogs, Audrey Hepburn and Rosye, are the stars in my sky, and I dream of having a pet pig as well one day. Music still plays a large role in my life, and some of my favorite artists are Haim, Charli XCX and Carly Rae Jepsen. (Though, I admit my Taylor-Swift-only playlist has been taking over lately.)

Perhaps the most telling information about me, however, is my stan list — or what I call my holy trinity: Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift and, of course, Harry Styles.

I graduated with a degree in journalism and theatre from Fordham University, and started my internship at Fashionista when I was entering my senior year — and the rest is history! My time here has been so wonderful thus far, and I’m so excited to continue writing about the people I love alongside a team I admire so much.

P.S. Find me on Instagram and Twitter (if it doesn’t implode anytime soon).
