Harry Styles Surfaces in $40 Swim Trunks

Harry Styles, the date-night style God, who we’re more accustomed to seeing in feather boas and Gucci suits than anything else, is now reaching for a pair of swim shorts currently under $20? We never thought we’d see the day.

Spotted amid this month’s late-summer heatwave in his beloved Hampstead Heath, Styles took a swim in the wild lakes in a pair of, yes, who’d have thought, super affordable swim trunks from Weekday. Steely-faced and determined to cool down, it’s almost reassuring to know that the globe-trotting pop star is just like the rest of us in eighty-six-degree heat: grumpy, sweaty, and gagging for a swim.

So whether these trunks form part of Styles’ own collection, or whether they were a hasty purchase pre-dive, it seems that the biggest name in pop hasn’t strayed too far from us mere mortals after all. The more-than-affordable pair might, on the surface, look like a fairly standard pair of swim trunks… but, dear reader, we encourage you to probe a little deeper.

Embracing the pin-loving trend of Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and (Harry’s home turf) Gucci across the past few seasons, these Weekday swim shorts skim the upper thigh with their retro-infused, ’90s-inspired shape. Sealing with a drawstring at the waist, the hem of this pair curve tentatively upward at each side, mimicking the old-school sports uniforms of PE classes gone by.

All this to one side, however, this isn’t the first time Styles has opted for affordable picks in his off-duty time. Whilst you could be forgiven for thinking that the Gucci-adored singer opts for luxury only, he was spotted strolling through the streets of London at the beginning of this year in the affordable trio of the warm embrace of a North Face ‘Nuptse’ jacket, a pair of Nike joggers and white Reebok sneakers.

Styles has also been spotted previously reaching for Adidas Gazelles (otherwise known as the infamous “Satellite Stompers”), Vans, Ray-Ban, Pangaia and Converse during his off-duty time, proving that the inked-up star is more of an everyman than we might initially have anticipated.

So, whether you have a last-minute vacation marked out for the end of your 2023 calendar or if you’re merely stocking up ahead of next year, you can’t go wrong with a pair of Styles-approved swimmies. Take a dive.
