There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In ‘Great Outfits in Fashion History,’ Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.
There are very few certainties in this life, but one thing we can be sure of is that Jennifer Aniston’s ’90s outfits are always going to hit. It’s practically impossible to pick just one favorite, but I’ll do my best.
In 1995 — fresh off the success of that first season of “Friends” — Aniston and co-star Lisa Kudrow hosted the VH1 Honors awards. Jen came prepared in a classic all-black look, maximizing her stylish aesthetic without going too far. The bottom half of the outfit was basic and reliable, comprising simple black pants and matching geometric strappy heels. The see-through crochet top is where she took it to another level, revealing a lacy black bra underneath in a way that’s cheeky without screaming “Look at me,” sophisticated while keeping things youthful.
Paired with a very-’90s beaded necklace and a fresh face, this is an awards look I can get behind: nothing too dramatic (it’s not the Oscars, after all), but just right.
