Elite Early-Romance Move: Travis Kelce Keeps Inviting Taylor Swift To Games He Knows He’ll Dominate

New romance is always fun, especially all the firsts. You know: your first time going to a certain restaurant or bar together, your first time meeting the family, your first time bringing your date to watch you play at a 75,000-capacity stadium, etc. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are firmly in that territory, and after her trip to Kansas City last weekend to watch Kelce and the Chiefs bury the Chicago Bears—right alongside his mom, no less—followed by the Hall of Fame tight end renting out a restaurant for them (and the rest of the Chiefs), they’ve already checked off plenty of early-relationship boxes.

It’s been a fun and cute beginning to their story, but one thing we can’t help giggling at is the fact that Kelce is (wisely) inviting Swift to games against total cupcakes. The home game against the Bears—the saddest team in the entire league—was basically a guaranteed Chiefs win. (The Chiefs entered as two-touchdown betting favorites.) They responded accordingly, running all over Chicago for a 41-10 victory that included, critically, a Kelce touchdown. This is a veteran play. The rules of inviting a significant other to your game state that you absolutely must have a high chance of looking good. High school quarterbacks game-planning for the worst team in the conference know this move well.

Luckily for Kelce, his fantasy owners, and Swifties-turned-football-fans who want to see their new obsession get some screen time, the Chiefs’ game this Sunday is against the New York Jets, a team in the midst of a flop era that began in 1970 and has continued, with shockingly little interruption, since. Swift is reportedly set to witness this in person. And just like last weekend, this one could get ugly by halftime and feature several feats of Kelce strength. Should the Chiefs open up an early three-score lead again, the Kelce-Swift storyline is the main thing that will keep viewers tuned in to the national broadcast, providing ample opportunities to cut to Swift watching from on high in her luxury suite. Prepare your best bottle of seemingly ranch, MetLife Stadium.

Better yet, after the Jets game, the Chiefs square off with the Vikings and Broncos. As of this writing, neither of those teams have won a single game this season! We hope Swift likes blowouts. For her man, the next three games give him an opportunity to live out his boo’s lyrics while feasting on weaker competition. Laughing on a park bench, thinking to myself: Hey, isn’t this easy?
