Davide Renne, Jeremy Scott’s successor at Moschino, has passed away, the brand confirmed on Friday. He was 46.
Renne was announced as the new creative director of the Aeffe-owned fashion house on Oct. 16. He came from Gucci, where he worked for almost two decades on the womenswear team — first under Frida Giannini, then under Alessandro Michele — eventually becoming head designer.
“There are no words to describe the pain we are experiencing at this dramatic time. Davide joined us only a few days ago when a sudden illness took him from us too soon. We still can’t believe what happened,” said Massimo Ferretti, Chairman of Aeffe SpA in a statement. “With Davide, we were working on an ambitious project, in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and optimism for the future. Even though he was only with us for a very short time, Davide was able to immediately make himself loved and respected. Today we are left with the responsibility of carrying on what his imagination and creativity had only envisioned. Our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends.”
Renne was born in Follonica, Tuscany, and studied at Florence’s famed Polimoda under Alessandro Dell’Acqua before joining Gucci. He officially started the Moschino job (where Scott spent a near decade) less than two weeks ago, on Nov. 1. His first collection was slated to debut in February in Milan for Fall 2024.
