Helle Hestehave and Rikke Baumgarten often look to a specific muse. For pre-fall, they drew inspiration from the late Jane Birkin and injected a coastal holiday-inspired mood into their designs. “Our aim was to radiate the charm of the south of France, a region where Birkin was frequently photographed in the 1970s,” said Hestehave during a preview. “She was well known for a relaxed attitude in her style—totally cool and free—and we wanted to embody this in the collection,” added Baumgarten.
Titled Baum Voyage, the collection featured an eclectic blend of textures and silhouettes, perhaps to spark one’s wanderlust. There were charming blue and white gingham sets, denim tops with nautical lacing, and airy floral jumpsuits featuring hip cut-outs. While known for their tailoring, especially their oversized blazers, the lace and knitwear separates felt especially compelling. A paisley lace fabric sculpted into a floor-length maxi dress exuded a sultry yet insouciant vibe.
A sequined midi skirt, an A-line mini in leopard print, and ankle-length dresses adorned with polka dots and chest cut-outs were all curveballs. While the collection felt particularly summery, the designers also offered camel trench coats with contrasting trims and denim blousons capable of handling changing temperatures.
