What do us normal folk have most in common with incredibly famous people? A penchant for the ever-trending Adidas Samba. Harry Styles is just the latest Hollywood endorsement, following Katie Holmes, Zoë Kravitz, Austin Butler, and almost everyone else on this strange planet. Better yet, the coolest sneaker is also one of the more affordable: priced at $100 flat, it’s something a lot of people can genuinely enjoy.
Styles, who’s taking a well-deserved break following his last mammoth world tour, was photographed in London’s Soho this weekend. It was a low-key event: a meet-up with his musical collaborators Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson. And Styles, who you’re used to seeing in spangled Gucci fits, was in a low-key look. Hair clipped up. A Pleasing bag swung over one shoulder. Loewe bomber jacket. A trifecta of runaround sports gear: Umbro T-shirt, Nike shorts and, yes, a pair of Adidas Sambas, cut from “core white” leather and accented with grey suede detailing and “halo blue” back tabs.
Styles has long been a fan of the Samba. He’s tried them in black and white, he’s got the Gucci co-signed Adidas sneakers, and he had a collection of his own custom-made Sambas for that big world tour. He even wore them to announce Harry’s House, his Grammy award-winning third album. He loves them. And so does everyone else.
Skateboarding outfit Fucking Awesome just dropped its own punchy take on the sneakers. Rumors are swirling in the sneakerverse that ambassador of minimal chic JJJJound will be launching its own muted pair later this year.
The good news? Styles’ Sambas can also be yours.
