The resolve to “build from within what we have” is central to BITE Studio’s success, according to the brand. Founded by the husband-and-wife team of William Lundgren and Veronika Kant seven years ago, the Swedish brand is coming into its own aesthetically. The petal shapes introduced for fall 2023 have become, alongside tailoring, a brand signature. The two team up beautifully this season in a look that consists of black capri-length pants worn with a matching no-button blazer, through which the single frill on a sleeveless top peeks. Think of it as a sartorial boutonniere. A chalk-colored coat with standing seams on the shoulders continues that gestural narrative, much as a lace print on silken pajama-like separates dialogues with delicate openwork knits.
Lundgren and Kant worked with Julia Hetta—who photographed the Costume Institute’s Karl Lagerfeld exhibition catalog—on campaign images that capture the brand’s expressive minimalism; supplementary photos that revealed the clothes in greater detail would have been a nice addition.
