Brand-new sweaters have an irresistible coziness, don’t they? But after some wears and washes, they lose a bit of their luster — and start spawning fuzzballs.
Look, I’m not going to tell you that you should stop putting your nice sweaters in the washing machine. (I still do, albeit in a washing bag.) Up until now, I have mostly said, “c’est la vie“ when my knits clearly need some TLC. Then, I discovered an actually effective and quick solution to pilling, which happens when fibers experience friction and tangle.
Nori’s fabric shaver works similarly to an electric razor, but for clothes. I found it important to do a few softly-held test swipes before shaving my first item. With it lying flat, I move it in circular motions along the garment’s pilling. Like a vacuum cleaner, there’s a compartment that traps the lint, and discarding is easy: Pop off the door, dump and pop it back on. On average, it takes three-to-five minutes for me to fully shave a piece… and that includes the ones that seriously need it.
The device is rechargeable, and its charge tends to last several weeks. It comes in a carrying pouch, which is especially nice when packing this in a suitcase. This thing is awesome. It could be your holiday party trick, seriously.
