Jewelry houses are taking on the fashion world
After a few years of luxury jewelry houses slowly tiptoeing into the fashion world, 2023 marked a spike in the trend. From Beyoncé’s glittering Renaissance tour looks courtesy of Tiffany to Cartier’s one-of-a-kind Tressage cape — made up of 150 diamonds and 14 onyx pendants — the sky’s the limit for lavishly bejeweled apparel, reports The New York Times writer Milena Lazazzera. {The New York Times/paywalled}
New report alleges Lululemon’s corporate culture is “unwelcoming” to Black people
In a year-long report conducted by Business of Fashion, 14 current and former Lululemon employees described a corporate culture that is toxic and unwelcoming to Black people. In 2020, the yoga athleisure brand launched a diversity, equity and inclusion department, which had a budget of $5 million, reports Sheena Butler-Young. However, this new report finds that very little has changed in the past three years, with Black employees being passed over for promotions, deemed “off-brand,” reprimanded and sometimes even fired. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}
Byredo is launching fine jewelry
Known best for its high-end fragrances, Byredo is debuting a new fine jewelry collection, Virasaat. Named after the Hindi word for “inheritance,” the line nods to founder Ben Gorham’s Indian heritage, writes WWD reporter Jennifer Weil. The collection will feature pieces in both 18k gold and sterling silver, and will be available in late November. Prices are set to go from $350 all the way to $27,000. {WWD/paywalled}
Fenty and Puma to relaunch beloved creeper shoe
Rihanna’s Fenty and Puma are collaborating on a relaunch of the iconic Creeper silhouette. The Fenty x Puma Creeper Phatty pushes the boundaries of the classic design with an oversized look and bold colors. The original shoe, named Shoe of the Year in 2016, helped transform footwear culture, and this new iteration is more than promising. With three different color ways, the sneakers will be available for purchase on November 30.
