When most of us think about a multi-use beauty product, chances are what comes to mind is some sort of “arctic breeze”-scented monstrosity of a formula that neither cleanses, conditions nor moisturizes as adeptly as it should. But, as I already wrote in Fashionista’s September roundup of favorite beauty discoveries, your ex’s crusty 3-in-1 shower product this is not. Meet Basic Principle Trifecta Serum, an overachieving hair, skin and scalp serum 3-in-1 I’d actually recommend — and use regularly myself — as a beauty editor.
The silky, intensely moisturizing formula is packed with ingredients that are beneficial to both skin and hair — like niacinamide, squalane and glycerin — so it can be used from face to scalp to roots and ends. Despite its lightweight texture and fast-absorbing abilities, it’s loaded with oils that tamp down frizz, detangle and lend plenty of shine and moisture. A little goes a long way on my fine hair, but the versatile serum was also developed to help maintain hydration levels and prevent itching and flaking on the scalp for those who wear protective styles.
The truly impressive aspect is that this serum works not just on hair and scalp, but it can also be used on the face, where it helps soothe dryness and support barrier function, just as it does on the scalp. I won’t be tossing my active-based serums anytime soon, but I do plan to load up on this moisturizing one through the dry winter months.
